Class Description:

Squares and rectangles are a delight to paint. They offer the perfect opportunity to experiment with colors, patterns, and textures while building your skills in paint control and achieving clean, steady lines. These simple shapes are forgiving, fun to embellish, and nearly always turn out beautifully.

Join instructor Aleta Jacobson for this relaxing and experimental class. You're welcome to work freehand as she does, or you can sketch a light pencil grid or outline to guide your brush as you're learning. Both approaches work wonderfully. In abstract art, your color palette is entirely yours to choose. Let your surroundings and the season inspire you. You are painting in March with early spring unfolding around you—budding trees, fresh green shoots pushing through soil, the first hints of wildflower color in the garden. These moments in nature can become your palette. Or go bold and paint in every color of the rainbow. The joy is in the experimentation and discovering what the techniques can do.

Aleta Jacobson is a working artist, instructor, and designer who specializes in creating powerful collage, mixed media, watercolors, and acrylic paintings using a variety of tools and materials. Aleta is inspired by life events, current events, nature, and the environment. Learn more about Aleta’s beautiful work by visiting her website aletajacobsonartist.com.
