‍Class Description:
Step into the quiet, earthy world of the forest floor. In this class, you'll paint mushrooms and moss using two different approaches: traditional, botanically-inspired mushrooms with real detail and color, or wonky, whimsical ones in playful, unexpected colors and textures. You're free to lean into one style or blend both.

Using reference photos and simple, guided drawings, artists of all skill levels will be able to explore the world of mushrooms and moss in a variety of styles from “cutie” to serious and realistic. All students will walk away with individual studies of mushrooms and moss and one larger scene on watercolor paper.

This class is a perfect autumn escape, slow and meditative, giving you room to experiment freely between realism and whimsy, and to walk away with a small forest floor scene entirely your own.

‍Important Note About Materials:
All supplies needed will be provided for you. However, if you have beloved tools or materials of your own, you are always welcome to bring them along — more options only means more creative possibilities! We will be using watercolor paper, micron pens, watercolor paint, and pencils.

Aleta Jacobson is a working artist, instructor, and designer who specializes in creating powerful collage, mixed media, watercolors, and acrylic paintings using a variety of tools and materials.
