Get your sweet tooth ready to explore the delicious world of native plant infused ice cream, surrounded by music courtesy of Floating and the shade and blooms of the Forest Pavilion gardens.

CalBG is partnering with Bert & Rocky's Ice Cream to create three brand new flavors of frozen desserts:

  • Chocolate Orange Bay Ice Cream: Rich chocolate and tangy orange infused with a hint of earthy, spicy, and just a little bit provocative California Bay Laurel.
  • Bluecurls 'n Cream: Light, creamy honey with soothing notes of pine and lavender from the flowers of an iconic and fragrant California shrub, the Woolly Bluecurls.
  • Elderflower Lemon Sorbet: Floral notes from the delicate blooms of the Blue Elderberry pair delightfully with bright lemon to create this refreshing dairy-free dessert.

All three flavors will debut during Flower Hour, with take-home pints available for order and pickup later in July (signup coming soon!).

Taste your ice cream while enjoying the infectious energy of multi-instrumentalist performer Logan Hone on saxophone, flute (and more?!) and learning about the native plants that inspired these custom-made tasty treats.

Flower Hour is a ticketed event; ticket price includes one scoop of each of our native plant frozen dessert flavors (or three scoops of sorbet upon request); drinks will be available for purchase. ID check and wristband required to drink alcohol at this event.

Floating is a weekly all-ages outdoor arts series that explores the harmony between soundscape and landscape. We nourish symbiotic relationships among kindred artists, environmental organizations, and unique land projects with the goal of inspiring deeper interdependence among our local communities, cultures, and environments. In addition to weekly gatherings that encourage us to contemplate what it means to belong to an ecosystem, our programming supports a funded seasonal artist residency that explores the relationship between process and environment, as well as land residencies produced in reciprocity with local conservationists and arts communities that foster a deeper connection between people and land.In bringing people together over forward-thinking musical performances, we explore the intersection of music and ecology, envisioning art and performance as integral to the landscape of social organization, all while rehabilitating our relationships with nature and ourselves.
