California Botanic Garden
Statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
California Botanic Garden (CalBG) is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion in all aspects of its mission and activities. This commitment extends to representation in management, staff, students, volunteers, members, and visitors, as well as members of the Board of Trustees and the Advisory Council.

Fostering and maintaining a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential to the sustained well-being of CalBG and are mirrored in our core mission to study and celebrate the diversity of California’s native plants. The varied skills, perspectives, ideas, and experiences of diverse individuals provide invaluable assets to CalBG, and enrich its interactions with its audiences including visitors, patrons and community members.

California Botanic Garden emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion in its hiring and advancement practices; in its recruitment of prospective Trustees, Advisors, graduate students, volunteers, and members; and in its engagement with the community. In community engagement, we seek to better serve the diverse cultures of the communities in which we operate by providing programs that are welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive.

In these matters, CalBG adheres to Federal, State and local laws, as well as to its core values.
